Flex can support one alternate language, allowing for the automation of sending alternative language text and forms when a patient's language is set in their Open Dental Patient Information section.
To utilize this feature you will need to ‘Enable multilingual communication’ in your Flex setting. To do so follow these steps: Settings > Texts & Emails > General Settings:
Next, scroll down to find the 'Enable multilingual communication' toggle, and enable the setting. You will now ‘Select which language we should associate your alternate messages with’ as well as the ‘Name Separator’.
- Choose the language from the drop-down menu
- Set the word to be used when separating names
When a patient’s preferred language set in Open Dental matches the language selected in your Flex Settings, Flex sends the following through automation:
- The alternate language text in your text templates located throughout the ‘Timeline’.
- These text templates can be customized by selecting the ‘EDIT TEXT TEMPLATES’ throughout the ‘Timeline’.
- The alternate language form(s) selected as ‘Attach the following forms to your alternate language message’ under the ‘Appointment Booked’ messages located in the ‘Timeline’
- You can create custom alternate language forms in the ‘Form Builder’
*Please note, when sending alternate language texts and/or forms to a patient they will likely answer in that language and Flex does not translate their answers.
