Why Is My Flex Down?

If your Flex is down, various factors might be contributing to the issue. These will be discussed in the following sections.

1. Your power and/or server is down:

  • Flex is installed locally on your server. If you have lost power, or the machine (typically your local server) has lost power or is down, this will cause the Flex service to be off as well.

Solution:

  • Once your power/server is turned back on, Flex will automatically try to reconnect.
  • If you notice that your power/server is back online and Flex is still down contact Flex Support as your IP address may have changed when the server went down.

2. Flex's service is off:

  • On your local machine (where Flex was installed, typically your server) Flex runs as a service.
  • If this service is turned off for any reason, Flex will be offline.

Solution:

  • Log in to your local server and search for 'services' in your Windows search.
  • Once open, find the 'Flex' service, and click 'start.'
  • Flex should now be running, if not, it is possible your IP address changed, please contact Flex support.

3. IP Address Change:

  • Your custom website (template: https://custom.myflex.app:45622, the ‘custom’ is unique to your office) runs based on your server's (machine that Flex was installed on directly) IP address.

Solution:

  • If the IP Address has changed, contact Flex Support to match the website to the new IP address.
  • To avoid this problem in the future, your IT can set your server's IP Address to 'static,' which means it won't change automatically.

4. Server Migration:

  • If your office or IT Company has changed the machine/server where Flex is installed, Flex will need to be migrated.

Solution:

  • Contact Flex support before your migration and Flex will schedule a support agent to call after the migration has concluded to move Flex over to the new machine/server.
  • A migration typically takes ~30 minutes.
    • Please note: Your IT may need to be involved if there are permissions restrictions on the new machine.

If your Flex is down for any other reason than mentioned above, please contact Flex support for assistance.
